Godzilla and King Kong will return for another epic battle on the big screen, Warner Bros. has announced. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.
After the two Titans clashed in 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, the studio says the two giant monsters will battle “a colossal undiscovered threat lurking in our world, challenging their very existence — and ours.”
The film will also explore how the mysterious Titans came to be by delving into their ancient histories and uncovering the legendary battle that created them and forever linked them to humans.
Adam Wingard will return to direct the MonsterVerse movie, along with cast members Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, and Kaylee Hottle. They will be joined by newcomers Dan Stevens, Fala Chen, Alex Ferns and Rachel House. Screenwriters Terry Rossio, Jeremy Slater and Simon Barrett are also part of the project. It is filmed on location in Queensland, Australia.
However, it will be some time before the extraordinary monsters take over our screens. The untitled movie is slated for release on March 15, 2024. While you wait, here’s how you can watch all of Godzilla’s moves in order.
The franchise’s latest installment will follow the spectacular showdown of Godzilla and Kong and the ensuing team to destroy Mechagodzilla. IGN gave the previous film a 7/10, saying “it’s a glorious love letter to the collective history of these iconic characters and a satisfying culmination of the arc that led up to it”.
The movie announcement comes just days after Deadline announced that a new King Kong series is in development for Disney+. The show will focus on the origins of the Colossal Ape and will be based on the original books by filmmaker Merian Cooper.
