Brandy Norwood is set to star in A24’s “The Front Room,” a psychological horror flick from directors Max and Sam Eggers.
The Eggers brothers, whose older brother Robert Eggers collaborated with A24 on “The Witch” and “The Lighthouse”, will direct their first feature film. They adapted the script from the short story of the same name by Susan Hill.
“The Front Room” follows a newly pregnant young couple forced to take in an ailing stepmother who has long been estranged from the family.
Along with Norwood, the 90s music icon who is also of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “Moesha” and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” fame, co-stars alongside Kathryn Hunter ( “The Tragedy of Macbeth”), Andrew Burnap (“WeCrashed,” Broadway’s “The Inheritance”) and Neal Huff (“Spotlight”).
Norwood then shared the news on Instagram, telling the public, “[I] I can’t wait for you to see this.
“God you are awesome!!!! I trust you for all my life,” she wrote. “Thank you for this amazing opportunity to work with this amazing cast, crew and studio that everyone wants work and of course my Eggers family.”
A24 will produce the film alongside Lucan Toh, Babak Anvari and Bryan Sonderman of Two & Two Pictures and Julia Oh and David Hinojosa of 2AM. A24 will also finance “The Front Room” and manage its theatrical deployment worldwide.
Max Eggers co-wrote “The Lighthouse,” a black-and-white drama starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, starring Robert Eggers. Sam Eggers wrote and edited the 2018 documentary “Olympia” about the career of Academy Award-winning actress Olympia Dukakis, and he served as a production assistant on her older brother’s film “The Witch.”
The Eggers brothers are replaced by 2AM, WME and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein and Selz. Norwood is represented by CAA and Ryan Ramsey (Salxco). Hunter is represented by Stanton Davidson Associates. Burnap is represented by UTA, Lede PR and Beth Rosner Management. Huff is represented by CornerStone Talent Agency and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
